EDRG 3321- Ch.3 Living Literature

Living literature is important to have in your classroom. We as teachers need to model good aspects about living literature. We also need to match students' interest and their reading ability to ensure a successful reading experience. By matching the students interests it will engage the students in wanting to read and not be boring for them. Provide many resources to students such as the library in your classroom, library at school, online library, public library, book store, reading contest and etc. When providing resources it continues to develop reading skills. Reading is comprehension and comprehension is the process of understanding or making meaning from what you read. Always encourage to read. Reading can be done anywhere.
An author I searched today was Sharelle Byars Moranville her website is
http://web.mac.com/sharellemoranville/Site/Home_page.html Her webpage is simple and not very informative. She did write some great chidrens books the website does not give enough information.
If you have not read the book "Sea Chest" you need to read it. The author is Cynthia Leitich Smith. Her website is www.cynthialeitichsmith.com and this website gives a lot of information.

  1. Hi April, I like what you said about providing many resources in your class room especially with reading, a classroom can be very inviting if the teacher makes it inviting. some children do not have access to books, computers, magazines or libraries, I was one of those kids growing up and you making it appoint says a lot about how your class room will look like.

  2. I do agree with you! I think that it is very important to find students interest to help them want to read. I read more now than I use to but I think that if my teachers would have let me pick the books I wanted to read I would find reading to be more fun today! This is something that I really want to create for my students! Great Job April!
